ONE THING THAT IS NEEDFUL

Today we live in a crazy world in which we get so preoccupied with so many things that we major on the

minor and minor on the Major. One day I was flipping through my bible and I came across this popular

story of Mary and Martha (Luke 10: 38-42).

Martha in the story reminds me of us. We are so busy trying to please the lord by doing so many things

for him in which we get so preoccupied and forget that only one major thing matters to him most.

Martha was so busy in the kitchen while Mary was busy at the feet of Jesus listening to his word. Martha

is a true representation of us; the believers of today. we get so carried away with working for God that

we forget to fellowship with him and learn at his feet.

It was not that Martha was doing the wrong thing, infact she might be singing in the choir, working in

the children’s department, evangelizing but one of the thing matters most to the lord is that we will not

leave the place of fellowshipping with him and replace it with something else.

God so much desire that we will have time for him and feast on his word.

Am not saying we should not work for God or serve him. Infact the work is very important but a balance

must be given to your relationship life with God and working for him.

So many times we get carried away with church activities, meetings, programs, our job, studies, family,

relationship and so on and we think some of the things we are doing are actually for God. Yes!!! They

might be for him but the lord is hungry for a relationship with us. Remember God is a jealous God and

anything that contends with his place in your life he will fight or even take away.

It is not all about ministry. Infact someone once said you can be ‘‘busy and not effective’’. Meaning you

can be busy for God and it is not even recognized by him because you are leaving out your relationship

with him. place

Sweetheart one thing is needful, everything is not about getting a husband develop your intimacy with

God. You will need your relationship with him to sustain your marriage.

Sir, I know you have a busy schedule. Infact you spend more than 10hours at your work place. One thing

is needful sir! You will leave the job one day REMEMBER? So anything that is taking the place of God is

not worth it.

In the words of Jesus, he said in verse 42 ‘’ but one thing is needed and Mary has chosen the good part

which will not be taken away from her’’ ministry can be taken away, your husband might leave you, you

will retire from your job one day but your relationship with him is ‘’forever’’. Meaning till eternity.

Nobody can take it away from you not even the DEVIL. So as you go on with your life don’t forsake the

place of Your RELATIONSHIP with him plus your WORD life. Remember one thing is NEEDFUL…
